Jen Hudson, owner of A Taste of Kent, has been canning since her teens, practicing a time old tradition passed on to her from her mother and grandmothers. Today she preserves for her own family and the community she lives in. Jen is a marketer at the Upriver Country Market in Bass River, NB supplying stock for many a kitchen pantry in her region, and perhaps beyond.
Her 20 year background in broadcasting as a show host (XL 96) and a reporter/producer for CBC Moncton and News 91.9, as well as intructor at NBCC, and workshop teacher for Nourish Moi Nutrition (St. Ignace, NB), the health centre in Elsipogtog, NB and the Community Food Mentorship program in Richibucto, NB stands her in good stead to teach the art of canning.
We welcome her to Green Eye Cooperative for a few workshops this upcoming fall season of 2015. See our Workshop & Event page for more details and registration to the workshops where we can learn a few of Jen’s secrets, tips and learned techniques to simplify the canning process.
You can also listen to an interview of her on CBC Radio’s Shift program.
